New State Law Affects Mobile Food Unit Operators in Tarrant County

August 29, 2023 - (Tarrant County) - A new appointment process has been implemented by Tarrant County Public Health to make permitting easy and convenient for mobile food unit operators in Tarrant County.

Starting on Sept. 1, 2023, all mobile food unit permits will be issued by Tarrant County Public Health. House Bill 2878 shifts the responsibility of permitting and inspecting mobile food service establishments to Tarrant County.

The TCPH permit is the only food permit a mobile food unit is required to obtain in order to offer food for public consumption anywhere in Tarrant County.

There are three steps for applicants to follow: make an appointment, download the application packet, complete and print the packet, then bring all necessary items listed in the Mobile Food Unit Checklist to your scheduled appointment.
