NACo Poverty Summit in Fort Worth, TX

As Tarrant County Commissioner and President of the National Association of Counties (NACo), Commissioner Brooks' presidential initiative focuses on the critical role counties play in breaking multi-generational cycles of poverty, especially with our children. This past December, Tarrant County hosted the NACo Poverty Summit in Downtown Fort Worth. More than 160 county leaders from across the country gathered in Fort Worth to examine anti-poverty initiatives and the critical role counties play in breaking multi-generational cycles of poverty. County leaders and national experts discussed the impact of poverty on children and families and how county leadership and investments in early childhood development help to lower future costs in health, child welfare, safety, justice and other systems.
