A people who take no pride in the noble achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything worthy to be remembered with pride by remote descendents.
-- Macaulay
The story of Tarrant County is the story of the taming of the West; of battles with Native Americans and cattle drives, of gunfights and gushers, as well as of plantations and packing plants. From the coming of the pioneer, to the coming of the railroad, to the coming of high-tech assembly lines -- it all happened here.
It is the mission of the Tarrant County Historical Commission to ensure that the story is saved and savored for generations to come.
