HISTORICAL NOTE

Evelyn McKimmey's son, Jim McKimmey, discovered two boxes of records from the University Place Study Club of Fort Worth while organizing his mother's house. The club was established in 1925 and, as stated in its Constitution, it was created for the "cultural and civic advancement of the community." It served as an academic and social club for women residing in the Texas Christian University (TCU) community and provided school loans to TCU students. The club consisted of three departments: books department, music department, and arts department. Each department held meetings, luncheons, programs, and presentations.
