Summary: Donor is Founder and Director of the Birdville Museum located in Haltom City, Texas. The museum opened in May 2011. Donor was president of Birdville Historical Society when that group took a field trip to "Grapevine Springs Park" near Coppell in Dallas County in October 29, 2005. Photographs were made during that tour. Grapevine Springs is believed to be the campground for Sam Houston on his journey to meet with Native American representatives of Texas tribes in August 1843. The Treaty of Bird's Fort was the result of this journey. Porter also donated a portion of a university thesis written on Heritage Park, which is located in downtown Fort Worth. Image shown is of the Bird's Fort Historical Marker on old Calloway Lake taken post-1970 by an unknown photographer. According to donor, this marker is no longer present at the location.
