How do I apply for employment opportunities?

For a vast majority of Tarrant County positions you may submit a complete job application on-line.  If this is your first time using the on-line application, you will need to create an account and select a username and password.  After creating your account, you will be able to login and build an application.  This application will be saved so that you may use it to apply for multiple jobs if you desire.  This is a secure site, and only authorized County employees have access to your information.

If you do not have an email account, you can sign up for a free email account at Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail or Gmail.

What if I want to apply on-line but do not have access to a computer? If you do not have access to a computer, you may go to a public library, come to the Human Resources Department where staff will be available to assist you, or you may utilize a kiosk located at one of the remote locations.
Can I apply for jobs that are not currently open?
 

No, we only accept applications for jobs that we are currently recruiting for.  However, if you have on-line access you may be able to complete a Job Interest Card for jobs that you might wish to apply for whenever a vacancy arises.  This interest card will remain on file or "open" for 12 months.  You will be notified by email or U.S. mail once a job you have expressed interest in is posted.

How will I know if my application has been received? If you have successfully submitted an application on-line, you will receive confirmation by email immediately.  
May I submit a resume?
 
We do not accept resumes in lieu of a completed application.  However, you may attach a resume or other required documents to your on-line application. 
How do I access my on-line account once it has been established? You may access your account by logging on at www.governmentjobs.com or by clicking Application Status.
How old do I have to be to become employed by the County? Tarrant County requires its employees to be at least 18 years of age. The Deputy Sheriff position minimum age requirement is 21 years of age.
How long is a typing test score valid? Typing test scores are valid for two years. Employee typing test scores, however, have no expiration date.  
How many opportunties do I have to take the typing test? Applicants who have been contacted for a typing test may take up to four tests, per invitation, and will be given five business days from the initial date of contact to take the test(s).
