Although law enforcement was notified of the 60 day extension, we understand that some drivers were issued citations. The Executive Order signed by Governor Abbott on March 16, 2020, grants a 60 day extension from the date Texas Department of Motor Vehicles resumes normal operations for registration renewal. If you are unable to request an extension with the court after providing a copy of the Executive Order, registration is available online, by mail or by placing your renewal documents in the drop box. For inspection locations, visit the Texas Department of Public Safety website.
Renewal paperwork including supporting documentation and fees can be mailed or placed in the secure drop box for processing at our downtown Fort Worth location. The drop box is available 24/7. We accept checks/money orders/cashier’s checks made payable to Wendy Burgess, Tax Assessor-Collector, through the mail and in the drop box. No cash or credit card information please. The sticker and/or plates are mailed to you. Please allow three (3) weeks for processing and mail time.
