The TCSO Posse is an equestrian riding club affiliated with the Sheriff’s Office. Founded in 1958 by Sheriff Harlan Wright, the posse represents the Sheriff’s Office at ceremonial events, parades and community functions. This group of volunteers are the “Good Will Ambassadors” of the Sheriff’s Office, and help to continue the western heritage of the Texas Sheriff, especially in Tarrant County, which is known as the place “Where the West Begins.”

Posse members have specific qualifications for membership including owning their own horse and trailer, being able to pass a background check, and attendance and dues requirements. Posse members wear uniforms to official events, but are not deputies and do not have law enforcement authority.
