    April happenings and free testing!

    April is here and I'm sure we're all looking forward to enjoying some CONSISTENT spring weather!

    April also has a quite a few health observances. To pick just a few, April 1 - 7 is National Public Health Week and we're always happy to celebrate our progress. April 7 is World Health Day and public health continues to battle certain diseases that are raging elsewhere in the world and somehow find their way into Tarrant County --like measles and tuberculosis.

    Our award-winning Teen Videofest project is celebrating its 20th anniversary and will showcase this year's video winners on April 12

    Red ribbon, Take Charge, Take the Test, Free HIF, STD Testing. This month at select locations.

    April is also Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Awareness month, it's our duty, as a health department, to provide not only education regarding sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), but to also low-cost, convenient and confidential testing.  During this month, Tarrant County Public Health will provide free STD testing on specific days at locations throughout the county. Here is a printable flier with dates, times and locations. If you're unsure of your sexual health status, by all means get yourself tested.

    There are other health observances I could talk about, but for now...let's enjoy the spring weather!
