As part of Tarrant County Public Health's (TCPH) charge to protect the community, TCPH maintains a variety of functions that monitor the local environment and regular business activities that can affect the public's health. Occasional climate issues, and planning for them, are also part of TCPH's response.
A major division at TCPH, Environmental Health inspects and issues permits for food service establishments and public swimming pools, performs vector control in unincorporated county areas, monitors sewage disposal, water supply systems and stormwater runoff, and also provides community education and outreach programs.
This section of TCPH partners with community organizations, municipalities, health care providers and businesses to plan and implement response and recovery measures in the event of a public health threat or emergency.
