    On-site Prostate Screenings

    Did you know September is National Prostate Health Month? Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer; cancer is the second leading cause of death among American men behind only heart disease. Tarrant County will be partnering with JPS Health Network to offer on-site screenings. Should you wish to participate, this is a blood test that will require a blood draw.

    Testing will take approximately 15 minutes.

    Please see the information below about the upcoming PSA testing dates, times, and locations.

    If you would like to sign up for an appointment please look at the date and times below and contact Henry Tolstedt (817-212-7036). Appoints are approximately 10 minutes. Please provide a few options as appointments are on a first come, first served basis.

    PSA SCREENING

     

    Who needs a PSA Screening?

    PSA Screening is recommended for men beginning at age 50.
    African American men have a higher risk and should begin screening at age 40-45
    If someone if your family has had prostate cancer, you should begin screening at age 40-45

    What is a PSA Screening?

    PSA = Prostate-Specific Antigen
    This PSA test can help identify prostate cancer. It will measure the amount of PSA in your blood
    The blood sample is sent to the laboratory for analysis. You will receive your results in 2-3 days.

    Symptoms of Prostate Cancer


    •    Trouble starting and stopping urinating
    •    Burning or pain when urinating
    •    More frequent urges to urinate at night
    •    Loss of bladder control
    •    Decreased flow of urine stream
    •    Blood in urine

    Wellness and prevention are key to your good health. One screening could save your life.
