Our Mission: 
To empower older adults to live with purpose,  independence, and dignity.

We provide these services to seniors free of charge at Wellness Programs Sites and Neighborhood Senior Center locations:

Nutrition + Socialization + Wellness Programs + Transportation + Fun

Senior Citizen Services of Greater Tarrant County, Inc., is a non-profit organization that provides a wide range of programs and services that enable senior adults to live independently with dignity. Founded in 1967 with one senior center on Hemphill Street, the agency has grown to thirty (30) centers located throughout the county. One of the major programs of SCS is the Congregate Meal Program which has provided 235,500 delicious, nutritious hot meals to 6,000 seniors at the area senior centers throughout the year.

Opportunities for active volunteer involvement in community service are afforded in 150 non-profit organizations through our volunteer program, as well as in the senior centers. The 2,348 volunteers have donated 262,363 hours of service to the community. Listed below are the programs and services that address the nutritional, physical, informational/educational, and social needs of the seniors facing aging and isolation.


Nutrition Program - hot delicious meals served daily in a home-away-from home environment

Senior Centers - network of 30 senior centers offering services and activities


A Volunteer Program - We accept volunteers of all ages who would like to be involved in community service


Texercise - center based physical fitness and wellness program


Benefits Counseling - information and assistance regarding public benefits and health insurance


Matter of Balance - fall prevention training for older adults to prevent falls and reduce injuries due to falls

Health for Me - training for older adults with a chronic condition like diabetes, heart disease, etc. AND caretakers or family members who assist older adults with these conditions

Volunteers are always needed! Volunteers and professionals are involved in providing a variety of services: transportation, food bank pickup, visits by phone and in person, information and referral, and meals.
