Safeguarding Our Community's Health

Since its inception in the 1950s, Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has been a valuable local resource by providing services to all Tarrant County residents aimed at promoting, achieving and maintaining a healthy standard of living. With a client base and scope of services as diverse as the county's population, a dedicated staff of more than 300 public health professionals and annual funding resources totaling approximately $33 million, TCPH services truly touch everyone, every day, everywhere.

Health Observances


May is Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month, Clean Air Month and Hepatitis Awareness Month.

 

Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) regularly monitors air quality and is actively working to promote clean air.  For more information on national efforts, visit the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America Web site or the American Lung Association Web site.

 

TCPH also works to control the prevalence of hepatitis B in babies.  For more information on hepatitis, go to the Hepatitis Foundation International Web site.

 

May 11-17 is National Women’s Health Week and Monday, May 12 is National Women’s Check-up Day.  Tarrant County Public Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program offers low or no-cost screenings for breast and cervical cancer.  For more information on the National Women’s Health Week, visit the Office of Women’s Health Web page on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Web site.

  As part of a joint exercise to help Tarrant County Public Health prepare to respond to a mock anthrax release, Ben Barber Career Tech Academy in Mansfield will serve as the site of a staged anthrax disaster on Tuesday, April 1, 2008.
