Inmate Visitation Information

This information is designed to assist family and friends with information pertaining to visitation, telephone, correspondence and commissary.

Visitation

• Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  The signing up of visitors shall begin 30 minutes prior to the start of visiting hours.  Visitors will not be processed after 8:30 p.m.

• Each person will be limited to one visit per day, per inmate.  A maximum of two adults will be allowed to visit at any one time.  There is no restriction on the number of children, under the age of 16, when accompanied by an adult

• Each inmate may receive a maximum of 2 visits, not including attorney visits, per day unless approved by the rank of Captain or higher

• Visitors 18 years and older must present proper identification containing their photograph.

The following identification shall be authorized:

a) A Valid Driver’s License from any state:  An expired license may be accepted if it expired during the preceding six months.  A temporary (paper) license may be accepted as long as it is current and the person has another type of photo identification.

b) Identification card issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

c) Valid passports are acceptable identification under the following rules per the U.S. Department of State [www.travel.state.gov/ppt_faq.html]

d) If the person was age sixteen or older when the passport was issued, the passport is valid for ten years from the date of issue.

e) If the person was fifteen or younger when the passport was issued, the passport is valid for five years from the date of issue.

f) Immigration ID card with photo, issued by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service.

g) Mexican Voter Registration cards with a United States address listed as a residence is not valid forms of identification. 

h) Mexican Consulate cards.

i) Military ID cards, including active duty, reserve, National Guard, retired, or dependant.  These ID cards are issued by the US Department of Defense (DOD) with the exception of the State Guard, which is issued by the respective State.

• Visitors under the age of 18 years old may use school photo Identification Card.

• All visitors shall be expected to act in an orderly manner. Persons accompanied by children under the age of 16 shall be responsible for the juvenile's behavior.

• Any visitor 15 years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult (16 years old or above).

• A visit may be denied to any visitor that acts in an inappropriate or unprofessional manner or if they fail to comply with any of the stated jail rules. 

• A visit may be denied if an inmate fails to comply with any of the stated jail rules.

• Physical searches may be conducted with probable cause.

• Visitors shall not give any items directly to inmates.

• A visitor that was released from custody from a Tarrant County Confinement Facility within the past 6 months shall be denied visitation.

• Any questions regarding the above guidelines should be referred to the Confinement Bureau Supervisor on duty.

Money Deposits

• Money deposits for inmates will be accepted at the Tarrant County Corrections Center, 100 N. Lamar, Fort Worth, TX, 7 days a week.

•Deposits cannot be accepted from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., - 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. -or- 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

• Cash ( U.S. Currency only, no rolled or loose coins), U.S. Postal Money Orders, Western Union Money Orders or Government checks are accepted. 

• Cash should be deposited at the Money Room window located at the Tarrant County Corrections Center.

• U.S. Postal Money Orders, Western Union Money Orders or Government checks will also be accepted by mail.

•All deposits other than cash shall require a 14 day waiting period before the money is credited to the inmate's account.

 Correspondence

• Inmates are permitted to send and receive letters. Letters mailed to inmates shall be no larger than 12" by 16".

• Inmates may purchase writing supplies (paper, envelopes, pens, and stamps) from inmate commissary. Writing supplies are furnished to indigent inmates.

• The only item which may be enclosed with correspondence mailed to an inmate is 10 or less unframed photographs no larger than 4" by 6".  Photographs of the self-developing type (Polaroid), from which the hard backing has not been removed are not acceptable.

• Any contraband items received will be returned to sender.

• Photographs determined to contain inappropriate subject matter or images depicting nudity, sexual acts, physical violence or gruesome subject matter will not be allowed.

• The jail is responsible only for mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service.  All tracer actions on lost mail must be referred directly to the post office by the sender.

• Address letters to an inmate as follows:

   Senders first name and last name

Books

• New, soft backed books must be mailed directly from a well established and recognized retail book store such as (Barnes and Noble or Amazon etc...). Magazines and cross-word puzzle books must be a subscription from a publisher.

Telephone

• Inmates are allowed to place collect telephone calls from jail. If you accept such a call, YOU will be billed directly by the telephone company.

• Inmates cannot receive incoming calls; emergency calls (serious illness or death) must be directed to the Jail Chaplain for verification and handling.

Commissary

• Inmates have a wide variety of items that can be purchased from commissary. This includes personal hygiene items, t-shirts, undergarments, non-perishable food items, stamps, envelopes, writing materials, and games.
