Tarrant County processes a record number of motor vehicle title transfers and registrations each month. We are third in the State of Texas in the number of motor vehicle transactions. In keeping with our Mission Statement, we will provide efficient and timely service at all eight locations.
Our primary focus is on taking care of citizens. Please complete a blue comment card and drop in the designated location when you visit our offices, or email mvt@tarrantcounty.com and let us know how we are doing.
For the latest news on the Two Steps, One Sticker program, access the TxDMV website.
For an easy guide to help you determine the earliest date to obtain your inspection, see the Inspection Calendar. If you need assistance with the information on the calendar, please contact us at 817-884-1100 or email us at mvt@tarrantcounty.com.
Please note: Beginning with March 2016 registration renewals, an inspection must be obtained within 90 days of the registration expiration.
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will check the state inspection records for your last inspection before issuing a registration renewal notice.
Once you receive a registration renewal notice, you may choose one of the renewal methods below:
Renew Online: You will be able to renew your online renewal and your new registration sticker will be mailed to you.
Renew By Mail: You may mail your registration renewal notice,
proof of insurance and verification of inspection to the address on
your registration renewal notice. If you have moved to a different
county than what is shown on your renewal notice, mail to the new
county. To search for your county's address, navigate to the
"Find Your Local Tax Office & DMV" box at https://www.txdmv.gov/ and
enter the County Name. Your search results will show the county's
information followed by the TxDMV's Regional Service Center
information.
Renew In Drop Box: Registration Renewals may be dropped in any
available secure drop box at Tax Office locations that offer one. To
find out where there is a drop box at your preferred location and the
whether it is available 24/7 or during business hours, visit the locations
page. Include the renewal notice if available, check or money order
(no cash or cards), copy of identification, and your phone number
and/or email address. Checks are made payable to Wendy Burgess.
Renew In Person at Grocery Stores: You may renew your registration if you received your renewal notice. You must present the renewal notice, current passing Vehicle Inspection Report you received from the inspection station, and acceptable form of identification at the time of renewal. Please note: Grocery store locations issue stickers only. For a list of partnering stores, visit the Other Renewal Locations page on our website.
Renew In Person: You may come in to any of our eight locations to renew your registration in person. Bring your proof of insurance, registration renewal notice if you have it, and an acceptable form of ID. Your inspection will be verified electronically. Please note: most inspection records will be available in real time, but there may be instances when the record is not immediately available. You may present the current, passing Vehicle Inspection Report you received from the inspection station at the time of renewal. The report will be verified manually and you will be permitted to renew your vehicle registration.
