Summary: This collection contains a manuscript, Memorable
Grapevine Area Pioneers, by the donor, which focuses on the
Austin family history in Texas, particularly the Grapevine/White's
Chapel area of northern Tarrant County. The patriarch of this
Texas-based family was Stephen Blevins Austin, who was donor's
great-great-grandfather; his son, Michael Lee Morison Austin, was the
father of her grandfather Charles Albert Austin, who, with wife
Virginia (Jennie) Lou Wood, raised donor from early childhood. This
family was one of the earliest settlers of the Grapevine/White's
Chapel area of northern Tarrant County. The land upon which the
White's Chapel Methodist Church sits was donated by Stephen Blevins
Austin. Image shown is the White's Chapel Texas Historical
Marker on the site of his donated land.
