    Sister Louise Smith Collection

    Hemphill Berry Design Guidebook

Summary: Donor is a member of the religious order of St. Mary of Namur, a Catholic teaching order that came to Fort Worth in 1885 to establish St. Ignatius Academy. Ultimately, the order went on to found, and fill as teachers, many Catholic schools in the Fort Worth and Dallas area. Sister Louise now resides near Our Lady of Victory in the retirement home established by the sisters. She is very active in building and protecting the order’s archives. The source for most of this gift was Ann Sutherland, who attended the sisters’ schools, lived near the convent, and was a longtime retail employee of Dillard’s Department stores.
