Summary: Steel Family records - Donor is a family descendant and presented the material for the archives on the occasion of placing the old "Masonic Bell," that had at one time been in Steel's Tavern, in the rotunda of the Tarrant County Courthouse on May 6, 2004. Beginning with John Steel, who came from Northern Ireland to Pennsylvania about 1741, it continues to Lawrence Gibbons Alexander Steel, b.1820, who came to Fort Worth from Harrison County in 1853. He owned land in various parts of what is now downtown Fort Worth.
