August 17, 2016 (Tarrant County, TX) – Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus in mosquito samples collected in both unincorporated Northwest and Southeast Tarrant County.
The first sample is from the area around Yucca Flat Trail. The second sample is from the area around Big Rock Court. The third sample is from the area around Grimsley Gibson Road. Weather permitting, TCPH will begin ground spraying efforts in these locations on Friday, August 19, starting at 9 p.m. and concluding by 5 a.m. the following morning.
In an effort to inform the public, TCPH has issued a notification to neighbors in the area and will continue until the time of spraying. You can find the most current information on our Facebook page or Be Mosquito Free webpage.
To date, the department has tested 3,201 mosquito samples have been tested at TCPH’s North Texas Regional Laboratory; 339 samples from Tarrant County have resulted positive for WNV – Arlington (46), Bedford (10), Benbrook (4), Burleson (1), Colleyville (14) Crowley (12), DFW airport (6), Euless (20), Everman (1), Fort Worth (54), Grand Prairie (10), Grapevine (21), Haltom (6), Haslet (9), Hurst (13), Keller (3), Kennedale (5), Lake Worth (4), Mansfield (2), N. Richland Hills (14), Pantego (12), Richland Hills (8), River Oaks (8), Saginaw (2), Sansom Park (5), Southlake (12), Unincorporated Tarrant County (24), Watauga (5), Westover Hills (8).
