    Mosquito Sample Tests Positive for West Nile Virus

    Ground spraying Tuesday night near Imogene Ct.

    in Northwest Tarrant County

     

     

     

    October 13, 2014 (Tarrant County, TX) – Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has confirmed one more West Nile virus (WNV) positive mosquito sample in unincorporated Tarrant County.

    This sample was collected in Northwest Tarrant County – in the area of Imogene Ct.

    Weather permitting; TCPH will begin ground spraying efforts Tuesday (10/14) evening. Ground spraying will start at 9 p.m. and conclude by 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

    In an effort to inform the public, TCPH has issued a notification to neighbors in the area and will continue notifications through tomorrow.

    TCPH has also updated the WNV Interactive Map on the department’s Stop West Nile Virus webpage.

    To date, 4,099 mosquito samples have been tested at TCPH’s North Texas Regional Laboratory since seasonal surveillance began on April 1. Tarrant County wide, 297 mosquito samples have tested positive for the virus.

    TCPH would like to remind residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump standing water on their property, use repellent, and dress for dusk to dawn.
