    Annual “Carnaval de Salud” focuses on health care and wellness

    DETAILS:

     

    A limited number of free flu vaccinations, educational presentations, displays and free health screenings will be provided by more than 20 community organizations participating in the 2012 Carnaval de Salud. The screenings include glucose/cholesterol screens, HIV/STD screens, vision checks, BMI/blood pressure checks, Safe Kids ID’s and dental exams. The event also will feature live entertainment and a Bicycle Rodeo – a safety bicycle and helmet check zone for kids under 12. The free flu vaccinations are provided on a first-come, first- served basis.

     

    Tarrant County Public Health hosts this event as part of the annual Binational Health Week. The week is a collaborative effort with the Mexican Ministry of Health, the Mexican Consulate of Dallas and other local agencies. The goal is to focus on health care and wellness among Hispanics and to promote sustainable partnerships that address health problems in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
