To help meet the need for more COVID-19 testing, Tarrant County has
provided this web page for individuals to use in self-screening and to
schedule a personal COVID-19 test at a community testing site.
Screenings are available in English and Spanish. People who need assistance in other languages, such as Vietnamese, can call the Tarrant County Public Health information line at 817-248-6299.
Community testing sites are currently in Fort Worth and Arlington and will test by appointment only. Additional sites will come online as demand grows.
The Ft. Worth testing site is in partnership with UNT Health Sciences Center, the City of Fort Worth and the UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Arlington location is in partnership with the City of Arlington.
Testing capacity continues to be modified. Hundreds of appointments
are available per day Monday - Friday. Additional testing sites, along
with more appointments, will become available again soon.
Should I get tested?
You should consider getting tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms (a fever of 100.4 or greater, cough and shortness of breath) or you:
What is the cost?
Testing is free. If you have insurance, we will bill your insurance.
There are health insurers and health maintenance organizations that are currently waiving cost-sharing for medically necessary COVID-19 testing.
What do I need to bring?
Please have a valid photo ID with proof of Tarrant County residency. Do not forget to bring the QR code you will receive from your self-screen for your test appointment confirmation. Also be sure to bring any insurance card such as Medicaid, Medicare or private insurance. Insurance status does not exclude anyone. Those without insurance will still be provided testing.
Can I bring a
friend/spouse/children/family member to get tested with me?
Each person to be tested must have their own appointment.
Appointments are limited to adults 18 and over only. For children
under 18, seek an appointment with their healthcare provider
What's the testing process?
This is a drive-through testing center. You will never exit your car. Do not roll the window down at all unless told to do so.
At the first station they will identify you based on your government ID with picture and will walk you through some instructions using a flip chart
The next station will take you through the actual testing process, where they will perform a swab deep into your nose. You will need to take a deep breath and lean your head back against the headrest. The swab will take 20 seconds to complete and it is uncomfortable. Then they will bag your swab and send it for testing. You will be free to go once the swab is bagged.
When will my results be available?
COVID-19 test results take approximately 4-5 days depending on the demand for testing. If your test results are positive, you will be immediately notified. Negative test results will be sent by mail.

Remember that most people who become infected with COVID-19 experience symptoms similar to the common cold or flu and are able to manage their symptoms at home using the same medications you would use to treat a cold or the flu.
In addition, you should isolate, at home, and follow the prevention steps below to limit the potential spread of illness:
If you feel you need to see your healthcare provider or have an
existing appointment, first call their office and tell them you have,
or may have COVID-19. They will determine how to proceed with your
care. Many medical offices are offering telehealth visits and may
advise this type of visit, if appropriate.
At this time, you have been instructed to home isolate because your current symptoms are considered mild. In the event your symptoms worsen, seek medical attention. Worsening of symptoms* may include:
If your healthcare provider recommends you go to the clinic or hospital for further evaluation, put on a facemask before you enter the facility. These steps will help keep other people in the office or waiting room from getting infected or exposed.
