As of today, March 8, there have been two additional cases of Zika Virus reported in Tarrant County, making a total of three human cases in the county so far.

TCPH reminds everyone in the community to prepare for the mosquito season. The warm weather with the added rain are the perfect recipe to start the mosquito breeding cycle. Typically, the mosquito-borne illness season begins towards the end of April, so there may be time for more of us to get educated about reducing mosquito breeding sites.

Public Health has produced this video to help residents Eliminate Mosquito Breeding Sites.

TCPH also has created a Zika Home Care Kit, which is an educational tool for individuals being evaluated for Zika. Though it is not for mass distribution, the information to build such a kit is available on our website. Kit details and pictures are included along with relevant Zika virus information.

County residents can also call the health department’s Zika Hotline (817-248-6299), if they have questions about this disease.

For more information on Zika virus and for other useful tips, visit our Zika Virus web page.

    Sincerely,

    Veerinder (Vinny) Taneja
