Part I: Adjudication Hearing

The first part is called an Adjudication Hearing. The result of this hearing is a decision that a delinquent act was or was not committed by the youth as alleged. If the court finds that a delinquent act was committed by the child, a second hearing will be scheduled.

A court services officer will meet you and your child following the adjudication hearing to develop information that will be provided in a report to the Court at the second hearing. This report is called a social study. The social study is important to the Court in ordering a plan. Therefore, it is important to provide accurate information to the court services officer.
