Child Fatality Review

Success of the Child Fatality Review Team

Tarrant County has been recognized, both state wide and nationally, for team excellence. Regular inquires are solicited from teams across the state as well as outside Texas wanting to know how the Tarrant County Team has been able to function with such precision that has proved to be unsurpassed.

Several reasons have contributed to the success of this team:

  • Early evolvement and communications among the Tarrant County Agencies responsible for the investigation process
  • Housing the Team within the Medical Examiner’s Office
  • Expanding the Team to include members from special focus groups devoted to the detection and apprehension of child abuse perpetrators
  • Maintaining an open forum to express concerns about the death of a child.
  • Total Team input prior to ruling in the manner of death.
