Checkout Policy
Most books in the library may be checked out by court and law firm personnel after 4:00 p.m. for overnight or weekend use. They should be returned to the reference desk no later than 9:00 a.m. the following working day. Audiotapes and videotapes may be checked out for a period of one week. A bar card may be required for identification.
Certain heavily-used materials may not be checked out under any circumstances. These titles are identified with an orange sticker on the spine.
Library staff may extend the checkout period, if necessary, provided no other library patron is waiting to use the materials.
Internet Access
The Library has several computer workstations with Internet access. Searching is free; printing is 25 cents per page.
Computer Assisted Research - Westlaw and Lexis
The Library has public access subscriptions to Lexis, Westlaw, Hein On-Line, and Legaltrac. Searching is free; printing is 25¢ per page.
Fax Service
Library staff will fax copies of needed library materials to court and law firm personnel. In addition, the library's fax machine may be used to send or receive non-library documents. The charge to send or receive is $1.00 per page and $2.00 per citation plus sales tax.
Fax requests received after 4:30 p.m. will be sent the following day. Payment for faxes is due when services are rendered or on receipt of faxed documents.
Self Service Copies
Photocopies are 20¢ per copy. The copiers will accept change, bills, or copycards. Copycards may be purchased with cash or a check and are available in the following denominations: 25 copies, 50 copies, 100 copies, 250 copies, 500 copies and 1,000 copies. There is a 50¢ deposit on each card.
Microfiche copies are also 20¢ per copy. The microfiche reader-printer takes correct change only.
Videotape Viewing
The Library has one VCR and monitor for inhouse viewing and one for checkout. Checkout is limited to courtrooms in the Old Courthouse and the Civil Courts Building. Persons in need of this equipment should call ahead of time to reserve it.
