Safeguarding Our Community's Health

Since its inception in the 1950s, Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has been a valuable local resource by providing services to all Tarrant County residents aimed at promoting, achieving and maintaining a healthy standard of living. With a client base and scope of services as diverse as the county's population, a dedicated staff of more than 350 public health professionals and annual funding resources totaling approximately $36 million, TCPH services truly touch everyone, every day, everywhere.

June is Men’s Health Awareness Month.  Healthy eating is important to men’s health.

June also is National Safety Month, an annual observance to educate and encourage safe behaviors around leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths.  Learn more about national efforts to promote safety at the National Safety Council Web site.

 

Monday – Sunday, June 10-16 is Men’s Health Week.  This week is dedicated to helping men become more aware of preventable health problems and to encourage regular check-ups that could provide early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

 

Wednesday, June 19 is World Sickle Cell Awareness Day.  Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a serious condition that affects people worldwide.

 

Thursday, June 27 is National HIV Testing Day.  Tarrant County Public Health’s Adult Health Services regularly provides testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
