The winners of the contest were announced today and recognized during Tarrant County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, April 10. Each winner received a $25 Staples gift card, an award certificate and a set of greeting cards and coloring pages featuring their artwork. The contest theme "A Healthier America Begins Today. Join the Movement!” challenged students in grades 1 - 8 to produce original artwork related to the theme.

This year’s winning artwork, along with other photos of the recognition ceremony, also can be seen on the Tarrant County Public Health Facebook page. The artwork will be added to the Public Health Week Poster Contest Gallery, located at Tarrant County Public Health’s main building, 1101 S. Main Street in Fort Worth. The artwork also will be featured on NBC 5's "Bus Stop Weather" broadcast and Facebook page beginning Monday, April 16.

Tarrant County Public Health invites all Tarrant County students in grades 1 - 8 to take participate in the annual Public Health Week Poster Contest.
The Public Health Week Poster Contest challenges youth to produce original artwork that highlights this year's theme: "A Healthier America Begins Today. Join the Movement!" Tarrant County Public Health sponsors this contest as part of National Public Health Week (April 2 – 8, 2012).
Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012.
The Call for Entries/Contest Rules and Teacher's Guide will help teachers prepare students to enter the contest. These items can be reproduced freely and provided to any student or teacher as supplemental information. A National Public Health Week Resource for Teachers, produced by the American Public Health Association, is also available.
A winner will be chosen from each grade level for which there are entries. The winners will be recognized during a Tarrant County Commissioners Court meeting. Their artwork will go on permanent display in the Public Health Week Poster Contest Gallery, in the south wing of the Dr. Marion J. Brooks Building, Tarrant County Public Health main campus, 1101 S. Main Street in Fort Worth. Winning artwork will also be featured on this Web site as well as the Tarrant County Public Health Facebook page.
It is important that we teach today's youth about the role that they can play in making our community and its neighborhoods a healthier place to live. We are excited to bring this opportunity to Tarrant County.
