Swimming Pool Inspections

Swimming pools and spas are permitted and inspected for compliance with state regulations.  Inspections are performed in 27 cities, Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and in the unincorporated areas.  Typically two inspections are performed per pool or spa.

 

Tarrant County Public Health has contracts to inspect public and semi-public swimming pools in the following cities:

Bedford Keller
Benbrook Lake Worth
Burleson  Mansfield
Blue Mound Pantego
Colleyville Richland Hills
Crowley River Oaks
DFW Airport  Saginaw
Dalworthington Gardens Sansom Park
Everman Southlake
Forest Hill Watauga
Grapevine Westlake
Haltom City  Westworth Village 
Haslet White Settlement

The current rules, 25 TAC, Chapter 265, Subchapter L, Standards for Swimming Pools and Spas went into effect on September 1, 2004 (except Section 265.190, which has an effective date of January 1, 2005) and Subchapter M Public Interactive Water Features and Fountains went into effect May 20, 2010.  For more information about the pool and spa rules, please contact the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act is a federal law that went into effect on December 19, 2008 and requires that “each public pool and spa in the United States shall be equipped with anti-entrapment devices".  Click on this link to download more information about the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act and Tarrant County swimming pools rules.
