A two-week program for teens that: encourages participants to analyze why they use tobacco, assists in developing alternative, healthy strategies, provides the knowledge and skills necessary to quit and satisfies the requirements for minor tobacco citations.

Buckle Up Children
New child safety seat laws went into effect on September 1, 2001 that increased the fines for not securing children in child passenger safety seat systems. The minimum fine increased from $25 to $100, and the maximum fine jumped from $50 to $200. The new law makes it an offense to operate a motor vehicle without properly restraining a child and also requires all passengers under the age of 17 to be properly restrained. In addition, all front seat passengers must be properly restrained regardless of age.

Child Support
The mission of the Child Support Office is to enhance the quality of life for children in Tarrant County by monitoring, collecting and disbursing child support obligations. We care about you and your child, and are actively engaged in the continuous improvement of our processes in order to provide you with excellent customer service.
In order to qualify for the program, the parent must meet the income quidelines and attend the car seat training class to receive the low cost price of $10.00.

The Tarrant County Public Health Department's Family Violence Prevention Project offers free primary prevention education to school-aged children in grades 3 through 12 in public school districts throughout Tarrant County.
The Tarrant County Immunization Registry (TCIR) was designed by the county Information Technologies Department in response to a request by the county Public Health Department for an automated system to track immunizations. It is currently running as a part of the P.H.A.S.E. program (Public Health Automated System Environment) which is designed to automate a majority of the Public Health department's clinical needs. This system is intended to interface with ImmTrak (the State of Texas Registry) at a later date.

One need only say "Columbine" to know that teenagers today face a multitude of challenges, including issues dealing with their health and personal safety. With this in mind, the Tarrant County Public Health Department (TCPHD) conceived a unique way to address health-related issues for teens in Tarrant County—a Teen Videofest contest. Teen Videofest, now in its fifth year, challenges creative teens to speak out—through video—on aspects of teen health that directly affect them and their peers.
WIC is a nutrition education program which provides supplemental foods that promote good health for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age five. The WIC program operates over 20 locations in Tarrant County.
