Tarrant County Clerk

{Suzanne Henderson - County Clerk}

Elected County Clerk to her first four year term in 1986, Suzanne Henderson has worked hard to improve quality of services that her growing office provides. The duties of the County Clerk have become much more complex since the early days of Tarrant County. As the County expands each year, more instruments are presented in the County Clerk's office for recording. Keeping current on this work is vital  because documents are recorded and filed on the date and time presented. The County Clerk is authorized by law to collect fees for services provided to the public. The monies collected by the Clerk's office are turned over to the County  Treasury. The amount of fees and fines collected make this office the second largest revenue generator for Tarrant County.

Since 1850, the County Clerk has been the "KEEPER OF THE RECORDS" for the County of Tarrant as well as the Clerk of the Commissioners Court and has been responsible for keeping accurate records of real property and the proceedings of the County Courts.

In addition, the County Clerk established a recycling center in 1993 for the sole purpose of destroying records for the County Clerk's office. We quickly expanded to include all county departments with desk side recycling and have entered into interlocal agreements to shred documents for school districts, police departments, cities, and other government agencies. The paper is shredded, bailed and sold with money going into the County General Fund.
