Safeguarding Our Community's Health

Since its inception in the 1950s, Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has been a valuable local resource by providing services to all Tarrant County residents aimed at promoting, achieving and maintaining a healthy standard of living. With a client base and scope of services as diverse as the county's population, a dedicated staff of more than 300 public health professionals and annual funding resources totaling approximately $33 million, TCPH services truly touch everyone, every day, everywhere.

Health Observances


Monday, Oct. 6 is National Child Health Day. Tarrant County Public Health reminds all parents to make sure they keep their child’s immunizations up to day. Shot records can be purchased for a small fee from our Vaccine Distribution Center (817-321-5450). For national information about Child Health Day, visit the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau (www.mchb.hrsa.gov) Web site.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Friday, Oct. 17 is National Mammography Day. Tarrant County Public Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program provides low-cost mammograms, breast exams, pap smears and diagnostic services for underinsured women 18 and over. For more information about National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you can go to www.nbcam.org, and for more information about National Mammography Day, visit the American Cancer Society Web site.

Monday – Friday, Oct. 20 – 24 is National Health Education Week. Tarrant County Public Health offers many health education programs and services, and maintains a resource center for public health partners and community members who want to learn more about current health issues.
