BACKGROUND:

Similar to prior "No Refusal" weekends, participating police agencies will use search warrants to take blood specimens from driving and boating while intoxicated arrestees who otherwise refuse to provide the State with blood-alcohol evidence. What is unique about this year's program is that Tarrant County will be part of a Statewide "No Refusal" program.

The "No Refusal" weekend's ultimate goal is to protect the public from intoxicated drivers on our roadways and waterways, thereby ensuring that the citizens of Tarrant County enjoy a safe holiday weekend. All participants sincerely hope that announcing this effort ahead of time will serve to deter those individuals who might otherwise ignore the risks connected with driving and boating while intoxicated. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office and the participating police agencies will use all legal means available to ensure that those who put the public at risk by driving and boating while intoxicated will not be able to hide the evidence of their crime.
