When the TCU Horned Frogs and the University of Wisconsin Badgers football teams clash on New Year’s Day at the historic 97th Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., there will be a little something extra riding on the game.
Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley and Dane County Executive Scott McDonell have made a small friendly wager on the outcome. The county leader whose team loses must wear the winning team’s sweatshirt the next time the Tarrant County Commissioners Court or the Dane County Board of Supervisors meet, and also ship out one case of beer to boot.
“We are so proud of our TCU Horned Frogs and what they have achieved,” Whitley said. He had intended to send a case of Texas-made Shiner Bock but decided instead to send a case of award-winning Fort Worth-brewed beer made by Rahr & Sons.
“The company’s founder, Fritz Rahr, is a TCU alum, and we might just send them a case of Cowtown’s finest, win or lose,” he said. “I know that Madison is a wonderful city and a great place to live, but I sincerely doubt a Badger can beat a Horned Frog.”
