The Tarrant County Commissioners Court this morning approved the Fiscal Year 2011 Budget, maintaining the current tax rate of 26.4 cents per $100 valuation. The budget calls for $ $463,474,776 in expenditures. Tarrant County taxes on a home with a value of $100,000 would be $264.
While there are no pay structure adjustments, merit pool, career path increases, or step increases included in the budget for FY 2011, there is $6,235,520 for a 3% one-time performance payment for all employees.
Seven new positions are included in the operating funds budget. Three positions are in the District Attorney’s Office that are due to expiring grant funding and four are in the Sheriff’s Office for court security.
Eleven positions were eliminated from the budget without layoffs: eight in the General Fund and three in the Road and Bridge Fund, saving $816,295.
Compared with the other five large urban counties (Travis, El Paso, Harris, Bexar and Dallas) Tarrant’s tax rate is the second lowest.
