Property tax payers who chose to pay half their 2009 property taxes in November to ease the economic stress on their wallets in these uncertain economic times need to make their second payment by June 30, 2010.
For those who were thought they might be unable to pay the full tax amount on January 31, the Half-Payment Option was a real budget-saver. Others may have chosen the option as a matter of convenience. The first payment must have been made by November 30, and now, the remainder of their tax bill is due by June 30.
If they pay by mail, their letter must have a June 30 postmark. No penalty and interest has accrued on the second half of the taxes.
The half-payment can be made at the downtown Tax Office or at any of the seven subcourthouses throughout the county. Hours at each location will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Payments may also be made by telephone or on the Tarrant County Website (www.tarrantcounty.com) via e-check (there is no charge for e-checks) or by credit card (a 2.15% charge for credit cards goes to the credit card processor). The credit card and e-check payment options are also available in Spanish by calling 817-884-1185.
